Trump Criticizes Canada in Recent Interview

President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that Canada is one of the worst nations to deal with, following the collapse of trade deal prospects. During an interview on the Glenn Beck Program, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with both the current Canadian administration under Prime Minister Mark Carney and the previous administration under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, claiming that Canada has taken advantage of the United States for many years. "They have taken advantage of the United States for many decades, actually. They charge tariffs that are unbelievable, like on milk, 400 percent," Trump said. He indicated that he intends to address these trade issues, stating, "We’re going to stop it." On Tuesday, Trump suggested renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America, referencing the Gulf of Mexico's designation as the Gulf of America. Trump also announced a 50 percent tariff on Canadian autos and steel set to begin next year, asserting that Canada acts as if it were a state in a union, which he claims has negatively impacted American auto and agriculture industries. "They don’t have anything that we have to have, okay, we can get by," Trump remarked, emphasizing that the U.S. loses over $60 billion annually in trade with Canada.
