August 26, 2026 WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has sanctioned three entities linked to violent far-left groups. The sanctioned entities include Autistici Inventati, an Italy-based organization providing digital services to Antifa and other extremists; Palestine Action, a UK-based group designated as a terrorist organization by the UK government in July 2025; and Masar Badil, associated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, "Far-left extremists, their fronts, and their enablers should be on notice: We will bring the full weight of our economic tools to bear." He emphasized the U.S. commitment to countering political terrorism and disrupting the infrastructure that supports these groups.
The actions taken today are part of a broader strategy outlined in the 2026 U.S. Counterterrorism Strategy, which identifies violent far-left groups as a significant threat. This follows previous actions by the State Department targeting antifascist groups engaged in violent acts.
OFAC’s actions are based on Executive Order (E.O.) 13224, which defines terrorism as acts intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population. Autistici Inventati is accused of providing technological support to extremist groups, including hosting services and encrypted communications. The organization has been linked to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), designated for its terrorist activities.
Palestine Action has been involved in actions that have resulted in injuries to law enforcement and damage to military property. The group was proscribed as a terrorist organization in the UK in July 2025, and the U.S. sanctions complement this designation.
Masar Badil operates as a front for the Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, which has also been sanctioned for its ties to the PFLP. The organizations share leadership and fundraising mechanisms, indicating a coordinated effort to support their political objectives.
These actions reflect the U.S. government's ongoing efforts to address the risks posed by far-left terrorism and to protect American citizens from violent extremism.
