Democrats Condemn Hasan Piker Following Controversial Remarks

<p>Prominent Democrats have condemned streamer Hasan Piker after he suggested that American Jews could face violence if perceived as strongly supporting Israel. This backlash follows a stream in which Piker displayed an image of Michigan state Sen. Jeremy Moss, who is Jewish and the Democratic nominee in Michigan's 11th Congressional District.</p><p>Moss stated that a fake audio clip is being circulated that misrepresents him as claiming he ran for Congress solely to ensure continued U.S. support for Israel. Piker remarked, "If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone is going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews."</p><p>His comments drew criticism from several Democratic leaders, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and DNC Chair Ken Martin. Jeffries initially did not name Piker but later confirmed he was referring to him, calling the claim that American Jews invite violence against themselves "dangerous and antisemitic."</p><p>Schneider, who has previously criticized Piker, reiterated that his remarks align with a history of antisemitic statements, stating, "Hasan Piker's hateful ideas and antisemitic remarks have no place in America or our nation's politics." Slotkin also spoke out, emphasizing that no community should face threats of violence for their political views.</p><p>Stevens, who criticized Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed for campaigning with Piker, stated that Piker is the "exact opposite" of someone she would campaign with. Booker, who had distanced himself from Piker, condemned Piker's rhetoric about Jewish Americans, asserting it has no place in public discourse.</p><p>Gottheimer, a persistent critic of Piker, praised Jeffries for his pushback and called for a House resolution condemning antisemitic rhetoric from Piker and others. He described Piker's comments as "right out of the Nazi playbook," emphasizing them as a call for violence against Jews.</p><p>Democratic strategist James Carville expressed his discontent with the embrace of Piker by parts of the Democratic Party, stating he would leave the party if Piker's influence grew. Fetterman also criticized El-Sayed over his ties to Piker during Michigan's Democratic Senate primary.</p><p>Moskowitz distanced himself from Piker after winning a primary challenge backed by Piker. Auchincloss rejected Piker's politics, stating, "The Democratic Party does not stand for what Hasan Piker stands for."
