Zymire Hughes, 22, was apprehended in Las Vegas on Tuesday night following a two-week manhunt related to an alleged aggravated assault on a 40-year-old woman in Philadelphia on August 12. The U.S. Marshals Service announced his capture, stating that Hughes was found hiding in an apartment complex in Southeast Las Vegas. He is being held at the Clark County Detention Center and will be extradited to Pennsylvania.
Hughes is accused of wearing a Chucky mask while allegedly terrorizing six individuals in Philadelphia, including chasing a female jogger and making threatening remarks. During the incident, he reportedly asked the jogger, "Are you ready to die?" causing her to fall and sustain an injury. After the incidents, Hughes fled Philadelphia on August 19, taking a flight from Trenton, New Jersey, to Orlando, Florida, before returning to Las Vegas, where he had recently moved in with his girlfriend. Authorities had been concerned that he might have traveled to California or Nevada due to his connections in those areas.
