Kinley Rasmus Sets Record for Hits by a Girl at Little League World Series

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Kinley Rasmus, a 12-year-old pitcher and shortstop for the Phenix City, Alabama, team, has set a record for the most hits by a girl at the Little League World Series. Rasmus achieved this milestone during a comeback win over a team from Tacoma, Washington, on Tuesday, where she recorded two hits, keeping Phenix City’s season alive in the double-elimination tournament. Rasmus has a total of five hits in the tournament. Additionally, she has made a significant impact on the mound, allowing only one hit in six innings against Tacoma earlier in the tournament. In that game, she recorded eight strikeouts, tying the record for strikeouts by a girl in a game, previously held by Mo’Ne Davis. Rasmus added six more strikeouts in a victory on Monday, bringing her tournament total to 14, which also ties Davis's record. Rasmus will have an opportunity to increase her hit total when Phenix City plays another elimination game on Wednesday.
