Google's Motion Assist Feature for Motion Sickness Rolling Out on Android

<p>Motion sickness can hinder the ability to read or use a phone in a moving vehicle. A solution has been developed that allows smartphones to be more usable in these situations. Google's version of this feature, called Motion Assist, is now being rolled out to Android devices.</p><p>Motion sickness occurs when there is a conflict between the signals received by the inner ear and what the eyes perceive. This can lead to discomfort when looking at a screen or reading while in motion. Apple introduced a similar feature called Motion Cues in iOS 18 in 2024, which uses moving dots on the screen to help alleviate motion sickness. Google's Motion Assist operates on a similar principle.</p><p>Google began testing Motion Assist in 2024, but it has only recently begun to expand beyond internal testing. According to Android Authority, Motion Assist is now available on Pixel phones running Android 17. The feature is being delivered through Play Services as part of a staged rollout, and there is no specific app or update required to access it.</p>
