Independent New Hampshire Senate candidate Aaron Day has issued an ultimatum to President Donald Trump, demanding action on cryptocurrency issues, the draft, and the firing of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. Day stated that if these demands are not met within ten days, he will proceed with a third-party campaign that he believes could negatively impact Republican candidate John Sununu's chances in the election.
Day has reportedly gathered nearly 5,000 signatures to qualify for the November ballot and is optimistic about his chances of appearing on it. He has outlined four key demands: the release of individuals he refers to as 'crypto prisoners,' halting the CLARITY Act, firing Lutnick, and ending the draft.
In previous statements, Day indicated that he would require significant changes from the Trump administration to avoid running as an independent candidate, citing broken promises related to cryptocurrency and other issues. He has faced challenges regarding his candidacy declaration due to residency and voter registration disputes in New Hampshire, but a federal magistrate judge has recommended a ruling in his favor.
Day believes that if he appears on the ballot, it could lead to Sununu's defeat, although he claims that his primary goal is to hold major parties accountable rather than solely to defeat Sununu. Sununu is currently competing for the Republican nomination against former Senator Scott Brown, while Representative Chris Pappas is the leading Democratic candidate for the seat being vacated by retiring Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
