President Donald Trump led a tour for approximately 30 children and other guests at the White House, focusing on the construction sites of the helipad and ballroom. During the event, held in the Rose Garden on August 24, 2026, Trump described the ongoing construction, stating, "Now, I don’t know if anybody wants to do this, but I’m going to be walking down here in about two minutes to meet with the people that are building the heliport, and you’ll see right alongside of it the great structure that’s rising right next to the White House, and that’s going to be the ballroom/military complex.
