Memphis Restaurant Implements Age Restriction Following Violent Incidents

Prive, a fine-dining restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee, has introduced a policy banning patrons under the age of 30. This decision follows a series of violent incidents at the establishment, including a shooting in 2023 that resulted in two fatalities and five injuries. According to local news outlet WHBQ, the Memphis Police have responded to 13 incidents at the restaurant over the past year. Reginald Bennett, a local resident, expressed support for the new policy, stating that it is necessary given the violence associated with younger patrons. The restaurant, owned by rapper Yo Gotti, has had an age restriction of 21 and over for the past decade, but the new rule was implemented earlier this month. Patrons will be required to present a government-issued ID to verify their age. Some community members and social media users have suggested that the age limit should be raised even further, to 35 or 40 years old.
