Kacey Musgraves Calls for Support for Immigrant Children's Rights During Concert

During the opening night of her "Middle of Nowhere" tour at Chicago's United Center on August 23, 2026, country singer Kacey Musgraves encouraged fans to donate to the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights as part of her birthday wish. Musgraves stated that the nonprofit assists children whose parents have been deported, emphasizing that it is not a political issue but rather a humanitarian one. The Young Center focuses on providing legal aid and support for unaccompanied and separated immigrant children in government custody. In 2024, the organization reported serving 1,975 children from 53 countries and noted an increase in the average detention time for children from 30 to 198 days. Musgraves has previously supported the Young Center, including through a resale platform where proceeds from her wardrobe sales benefit the organization. Additionally, she invited three brothers, recently released from ICE custody, to open her Texas shows in May. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that federal law requires custody for individuals entering illegally while their immigration claims are processed. Musgraves' concert marked the beginning of her North American tour, which will continue through October.
