Chinese Humanoid Robot Sets New 100m Dash Record at World Humanoid Robot Games

A humanoid robot named Lightning Bolt, developed in Beijing, completed a 100-meter dash in 9.39 seconds, breaking Usain Bolt's previous record of 9.58 seconds set in 2009. The event took place during the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on August 23, 2026. In a preliminary trial, another humanoid robot from Honor achieved a time of 9.32 seconds. The games, featuring over 2,000 robots competing in 51 events, highlight advancements in robotics technology in China. The event is being held at the National Speed Skating Oval, which was constructed for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Additionally, a humanoid robot achieved a standing high jump of 2.88 meters, surpassing the previous record of 0.95 meters set in the inaugural edition of the games and exceeding the human record of 2.45 meters. The event has drawn spectators who expressed excitement about the rapid development of humanoid robots.
