Trump's Approval Ratings Negative in 47 States and DC, New Projection Shows

A new projection from YouGov and The Economist indicates that President Donald Trump's net job approval rating is negative in 47 states and the District of Columbia. The three states where a majority of respondents approve of Trump's performance are Wyoming (+14), Idaho (+9), and West Virginia (+6). These states supported Trump in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 presidential elections. The lowest approval rating was recorded in D.C. at -83, while Maryland and Vermont reported the highest disapproval at -50. Additionally, a Reuters/Ipsos poll from August 17 shows that only one in three Americans approve of Trump's job performance, coinciding with concerns about the ongoing conflict in Iran, where 80% of Americans believe U.S. involvement will continue for an extended period. Major polling averages reflect Trump's negative ratings, with RealClearPolitics reporting 39.5% approval and 57.2% disapproval as of August 21.
