Spencer Pratt, a candidate for mayor of Los Angeles, expressed skepticism about the value of celebrity endorsements during an appearance on Fox News' "Gutfeld!". Pratt, known for his role on MTV's "The Hills", stated that he prefers support from everyday voters, specifically mentioning "moms and animal lovers in L.A." as his primary constituency. He remarked, "I’m cool if no celebrity ever endorses me. I actually love it when they attack me because then I’m like, oh, I’m doing so well!".
Pratt's comments followed a recent interview with Us Weekly, where he claimed to have received private endorsements from celebrities Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx, although Us Weekly later clarified that DiCaprio had not endorsed Pratt. Other celebrities who have publicly supported Pratt include several of his former co-stars from "The Hills" and notable figures like Dennis Quaid and Paris Hilton.
Pratt's campaign has reportedly raised millions in donations, outpacing incumbent mayor Karen Bass and candidate Nithya Raman. Despite this, prediction markets suggest that Pratt's chances of winning remain low, with Bass currently leading in the polls ahead of the primary election on June 2.
