There are also conflicting reports regarding the percentage of the paper's budget funded by federal sources, with estimates ranging from 50% to 65%. The annual budget for Stars and Stripes is between $27 million and $29 million. The Pentagon has previously announced plans to modernize the newspaper and refocus its content to better serve military personnel.
