NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has confirmed the league's intention to expand its international presence, expressing confidence that multiple teams will be based outside the United States in the future. In an interview with German media, Goodell stated, "At some point, there will be NFL teams outside the USA. I have no doubt that this will happen one day."
The NFL is set to host nine international games during the 2026 season, with matches scheduled in various countries, including Australia, Brazil, and several European cities. The league has already approved a plan for up to 10 non-U.S. games starting in 2027, which includes the removal of restrictions preventing teams from relocating home games to international venues.
Goodell mentioned that potential international cities could also host a Super Bowl, although he did not specify any locations. He acknowledged the logistical challenges of international games, particularly regarding travel times and scheduling. Despite these challenges, the NFL remains focused on expanding its global footprint and increasing revenue through international markets.
